Visit Hawke’s Bay New Zealand

Hawke’s bay is located on the South Eastern Coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The huge open bay stretches 100km from Mahia Peninsula to Cape Kidnappers. The busier end of Hawkes bay to the south is home to the popular cities of Napier and Hastings, and is where many of the residents live and holidaymakers visit.

In amongst the pristine countryside there is plenty to see and do. Perhaps best know for its high-quality wine, the area around Hawke’s Bay is also known as Wine Country and the vineyards around Hawke’s Bay produce some of the country’s best wine.

Along with the wineries, there’s also a number of great fine dining establishments where you can enjoy high-end cuisine in stunning, relaxing surroundings.

Napier

Built in the early 1930’s following a devastating earthquake, Napier’s Art Deco architecture attracts many visitors to the 2km stretch beach along the southern coast of Hawke’s Bay.

Home to Tremains Art Deco Festival in February, the Ocean Spa Complex and the National Aquarium of New Zealand where you can feed penguins or swim with dolphins, Napier offers everything from fun day time attractions to pleasant nightlife and fine dining experiences.

Hastings

The rural center of Hawke’s Bay, Hasting’s proximity to Napier and Havelock North lead it to become the supply city for surrounding farms, vineyards and neighboring towns; it’s also where the main hospital is located. Despite its rural beginnings, some parts of Hastings like Heretaunga Street now offer a range of modern restaurants, cafes and bars. There’s also a great Night Market held every Thursday (in the summer) that attracts people from all over the area.

Havelock North

Havelock North is home to many of the area’s hotels, motels and B&B’s. It also has a good variety of shops from boutique fashion stores, to charming cafes, restaurants and bars. The city is a short drive from popular places such as Te Awanga, Haumoana, Clifton, and the slivery sand beaches of Waimarama and Ocean Beach, as well as Hastings and Napier, which makes it the location of choice for most people visiting Hawke’s Bay.

If you’re looking for attractive, affordable accommodation located within close proximity to the area’s main attractions then why not try accommodation in Hawke’s Bay. Located just 5 mins from Hastings and Havelock, and 20 mins from Napier this rustic country lodge is one of many fantastic places to stay.

With stunning natural surroundings, lots of pleasant attractions and an endless choice of delicious food and drink, if you enjoy peace, tranquility and beautiful nature, then Hawke’s Bay should be top on the list of your places to visit in New Zealand.
